It appears that now, more than ever, affluent travelers are seeking the luxury of villas like those found on St Barts.  A recent report released by American Express shows a drastic increase in the amount of requests that their Travel Specialists are getting specific to villa rental.  My take?  Everyone else is finally catching on to what those of us who are here often already know; St Barts villas are the most luxurious in the world and the island itself is a destination like no other.

These specialists report that France and the Carribean – particularly St Barts – are among the most popular destinations for private villa vacations.  The majority of these villa requests are weeklong vacations and are being planned up to nine months in advance.  My personal opinion is that, in the near future, these vacation requests are going to need to be booked even further in advance.  I know that when browsing Expedia for villas on St Barts, there are many that are book solid through next spring – and it’s only October!!

It seems that the only thing these vacationers have in common is their need for luxurious accomodation and the comfort of “feeling

at home,” while indulging in additional comforts like personal gourmet chefs, daily housekeeping, private pools and beach and close proximity to the vibrant local shopping, dining, and culture. Request pour in for villas ranging in size from 2 bedrooms to 42-room mansions; the wide scope in size is likely driven by the young couples that come to visit for the first time and the seasoned visitors who have been coming for years and now want to share the experience with their extended families and friends.  The American Express Travel Specialists are also being asked to make special accomodations for pets; another sign that these travelers want is all.
